LIMINAL

Based on the philosophy of Gaston Bachelard, this Naxos Hall Concert explores the phenomenon of liminal spaces – spaces between dream and reality, materiality and imagination. Within these fields of tension, sound becomes architecture and light becomes a shaping element of space. Moving between fantasy and hallucination, the avant-pop work Growth and Phantasm by composer Zeynep Toraman addresses the now-discontinued analog synthesizer Dominion 1.

ΡΘЯTΛΓ by Raphaël Languillat, created in collaboration with visual artist Paul Pape, produces alien-like light sculptures made of fluorescent acrylic glass – fragile yet threatening forms between body and object that respond to sound and transform the space into a strange, organically connected system. Inspired by slime molds, which resist clear categorization, the program concludes with Slime Mold by Marta Haladzhun, in which violinist Malin Grass interacts with a reactive light installation by the composer and enters into dialogue with a digital slime mold.
