26. Nippon Connection Filmfestival
Nippon Connection is entering its 26th edition! From June 2 to 7, 2026, the world’s largest Japanese film festival once again opens its doors in Frankfurt am Main, inviting visitors to explore the fascinating world of Japanese cinema. With more than 100 short and feature-length films, the festival presents a diverse program that celebrates the richness of contemporary Japanese filmmaking. It offers a space for anyone eager to discover stories beyond familiar viewing habits. From visually stunning blockbusters and thought-provoking animated films to innovative independent productions, Nippon Connection showcases a wide range of cinema. The program includes many German, European, and international premieres, often presented in the presence of the filmmakers themselves. In addition, the festival features a packed supporting program with engaging talks, informative workshops, and exciting live concerts. The two festival centers, located at Produktionshaus NAXOS and Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm, also host a large Japanese market where visitors can enjoy food and browse a variety of stalls.
