Naxoshalle: Tear It Down!
Termine
The crazy path from the last working day of the Naxos-Union workers in 1990
to the first premiere of THEATER WILLY PRAML in 2000.
The Naxoshalle almost didn’t survive. Remove its heritage protection status
and finally let the investor build—this was the hope of some.
Let the grass grow over everything or let the concrete pour.
No more destruction of urban history that had survived a war—
this was the warning of the others.
City politics that read like a crime novel,
but luckily without a corpse.
A reading with a subsequent panel discussion about the time before us,
when the Naxoshalle was still JUST A PROPERTY—beautiful, but bothersome.
Panel:
Alfred Gangel (Head of the Property Office 1997–2012),
Claus-Jürgen Göpfert (formerly Frankfurter Rundschau),
Willy Praml (theater maker),
Linda Reisch (Cultural Affairs Officer 1990–1998),
Petra Roth (Mayor 1995–2012),
Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schneider (Cultural Studies Scholar),
Simon Möllendorf (Leadership Team Produktionshaus NAXOS)
Moderation: Carolin Millner (Director, Produktionshaus NAXOS)
… and whether, and in what form, things should continue at this location
depends not only on the quality of our work,
but also on the political will of the city’s policymakers—
and, not to be underestimated, the influence of its citizens.
We look forward to your visit and your participation.
