Accessibility

Accessibility

We want you to find your way around the Produktionshaus NAXOS easily and feel comfortable. Below you will find information about the accessibility of our venue and our options available to you. Further information on the accessibility of individual productions can be found on the respective event pages.

Plain and easy language

The main pages of our website are available in easy language. For individual events, we offer descriptions in plain language.

On-site accessibility

Designated disabled parking spaces are available in the Mousonturm parking garage (with elevator) at Waldschmidtstraße 4, diagonally opposite Produktionshaus NAXOS. The parking garage is subject to a charge.

In exceptional cases, we can arrange parking directly at the Naxoshalle. Taxis and transport services can be let through the bar gate. Please inform us by e-mail or telephone at least three days before the event if you require parking at the venue or would like assistance.

The house

The Naxoshalle is accessible at ground level. The historic end-grain wood flooring is uneven and has minor defects.

The ticket counter is located in the foyer, either mobile on the left or right in the entrance area or at the bar (bar height in the middle section: 85 cm). If tiered seating is used, there is no free choice of seats for wheelchair users, but seats in the areas at ground level. Earlier admission to the audience area is possible by prior arrangement.

Due to the mobile use of stage and audience areas, Produktionshaus NAXOS does not have a tactile guidance system. We will be happy to accompany you to your seat (usually free choice of seat) or assist you according to your wishes.

If you require a beanbag or alternative seating, please let us know at least three days before the event by e-mail or telephone.

A wheelchair-accessible toilet is located behind the bookcases in the theater foyer (room size: 2.60 x 2.60 m, door width: 90 cm, space on both sides of the toilet: 90 cm, seat height: 48 cm, hand basin and tilting mirror available).

Assistance dogs are of course welcome. Please let us know when you book your tickets if you are bringing an assistance dog.

Sign language

Selected performances will be translated into German Sign Language (DGS). Produktionshaus NAXOS does not currently have an audio induction loop system. As soon as one is available, this will be communicated on our website.

Audio description and tactile guidance

We are open to various forms of audio description, from Aesthetics of Access to the description of the action on stage in a finished work. The decisive factor is that a blind or visually impaired person is always involved in the decisions, processes and implementation as a consultant and author.

We provide receivers with semi-open over-ear headphones. You are welcome to bring your own headphones with a 3.5 mm jack plug.

Accompanying persons

Admission for one accompanying person is free of charge.

Accessible performing arts

We are committed to accessible art. In 2023, The dance performance KOLONOS by the DORFPRODUCT group, directed by Simon Möllendorf, was performed for the first time with audio description (funded by Aktion Mensch and the CITOYEN Foundation) at the Produktionshaus NAXOS in 2023. For the production Julien Green. THE ENEMY. A Baroque Thriller (Julien Green. DER FEIND. Ein Barock-Thriller) (directed by Michael Weber, June/July 2024), THEATER WILLY PRAML integrated an actress with Down syndrome into its ensemble. In October 2024, the ELEGANZ AUS REFLEX group, with director Carolin Millner, presented two performances of TURN THE LIGHT ON ALREADY! A Rothschild Variation (MACHT ENDLICH DAS LICHT AN! Eine Rothschild Variation) in German Sign Language.

We also address topics such as disability and ableism in our content. A production planned for November 2025 will deal with long COVID. As a house, we are working with the concept of Crip Time in this context.

Our commitment

We are actively involved in industry-specific associations, cultural policy initiatives and we engage in dialogue with organizations and institutions representing our target groups in order to create better conditions for accessibility. Accessible or low-barrier artistic productions are always created in collaboration with consultants with various disabilities.
