At the 91st Naxos Hall Concert, the Ensemble New Music Tallinn (ENMT) makes its Frankfurt debut with the calling card of its two faces—on the one hand closely connected with avant-garde contemporary music, and on the other hand boldly experimental in the realm of performative electronic music:

Part 1 – The bagpipe Torupill is renowned in Estonia for its distinctive sound and cultural significance. Each bagpipe has its own specific intonations and timbres. ENMT has invited five composers, each with different stylistic approaches to micro-intervals, to create new ensemble works. These works investigate the acoustic and psychoacoustic properties of the Torupill and explore new perspectives on combining it with micro-intervals. In this way, an avant-garde dialogue emerges with a traditional instrument.

New works for Torupill & Ensemble (2025, world premieres) by Justina Repeckaite, Bill Dougherty, Arash Yazdani, Liisa Hirsch, and Klaus Lang.

Part 2 – ENMT presents a special performance: the Scrapyard Series, launched in 2020 with the aim of fusing contemporary music with various other media, creating a blend of DIY, lo-fi, and classical new music. Alongside extended instrumental techniques, choreographic and visual elements play a central role in the presentation.

Works by Hugo Morales Murguia (including 150pF | Topspin | Plasma | Smooth Operations | Bocina).
