On a large outdoor public square stands an oversized spinning wheel. The wheel is designed in various shades of blue and white and divided into numbered segments from 1 to 15. Several large and small orange circles are scattered across its surface. To the right of the wheel stands a smiling person wearing dark clothing, light sneakers, and a pink cap. On Frankfurt’s Hauptwache square stands a giant spinning wheel. But here, you don’t win gummy bears—you win artistic experiences for hearing, seeing, or touching. How do we perceive public space? What might happen when imagination is given free rein? What disturbs us, what enchants us: a suddenly appearing choir, a friendly monster, homemade treats, or two vulvas riding past on a tandem bicycle? The actions can be experienced with all the senses, making the installation accessible to everyone. The artistic interventions activated by spinning the wheel emerge from interdisciplinary genres and from collaborations with associations in Frankfurt.
